A manure lagoon on a Somerset County farm, crusted over and needing agitation before it could be handled. Agricultural lagoons behave differently from municipal cells — heavier crust, different solids, and no permit clock running.
The Crawler was set on the cell and worked from the surface. The photograph shows it mid-job with the discharge line run out across the crust, Pennsylvania farmland behind it and the trees still bare. Agitation only on this engagement, with no press or haul.
The crust was broken up and the contents brought back to a state the farm could handle. Agricultural lagoons are not our main work, but the equipment does not care whose lagoon it is — the same machine that clears a municipal cell clears a manure pit ten miles from our yard.
